Authors North
Authors North stages day-long events each spring and autumn as well as a Summer Social for members living in the north of England.
Cornish Chapter
Moira Andrew co-ordinates the activities of a regional group in Falmouth. The group currently meets occasionally in Falmouth for lunch. To gain an insight into a typical gathering, some of those in attendence wrote a thumbnail sketch of themselves which can be viewed here.
Devon Writers Group
The Devon Writers Group has nearly seventy members, from all over the county. The group meets quarterly (Sept/Dec/March/June) in rural pubs for a weekday lunch: once in the South Hams, once in the north (north of the A30), and once in the centre, or vicinity of Exeter, each year. The fourth meeting is changeable: it may be a talk or a visit as opposed to a pub.
The aim is to bring together active writers to contribute ideas, news, advice, friendship and all-round good cheer. Meetings are generally arranged by email. The co-ordinator, Yvonne Potter, encourages members to raise any particular ideas or issues for discussion with her prior to each meeting.
Dorset Writers Group
Run by Robert Wickson, the Dorset Writers Group meets three to four times a year for an informal lunch.
Gloucestershire Lunches
Roger Jones (arle@ukonline.co.uk) and Eugenie Summerfield organise lunches for members, all taking place in Gloucestershire, usually with a speaker.
Society of Authors, France (SOAF)
The Society of Authors, France has been set up by Gregor Dallas and currently meets in Paris on the first Tuesday of each month at the Ogre à Plumes, Mº Parmentier or Goncourt. You can read more about the group by visiting www.soafrance.blogspot.com
Society of Authors, Italy (SOAI)
An informal group of members of the Society of Authors has been meeting for some years now. Membership includes writers from the far north to the far south of the country who meet approximately every six months, in locations all across Italy.
Society of Authors, Spain
As one of the newest groups of the Society, members in Spain will have their first meeting in September at the Hesperia Hotel in Cordoba.
South East Authors
The group meet regularly at Rowfant House in Crawley, and usually have a speaker at meetings.
Three Counties Lunches
Diana Samways organises monthly lunches for members, all taking place in the Guildford/Winchester area, usually with a speaker.
