David Thorpe

Personal Statement: David writes fiction for older children, books on sustainable energy and the environment, is News Editor of Energy & Environmental Management magazine, and blogs as the Low Carbon Kid. David wrote Hybrids (HarperCollins, 2007) - "A stunningly clever novel" (The Times), winner of the HarperCollins-Saga Magazine 2006 Childrens Novelist competition, a novella: Doc Chaos: the Chernobyl Effect, and has written many comics and cartoon strips such as Marvel's Captain Britain, Doc Chaos, Public Servants and Managing Hell. He also wrote Solar Technology and Sustainable Home Refurbishment (Earthscan, 2010-11), is an environmental consultant, was a co-founder and committee member of the London Screenwriters Workshop, and co-wrote The Fastest Forward for Comic Relief, a feature film starring Jerry Hall. He has edited many graphic novels and titles on sustainable technology. He gives public talks, readings and workshops in schools and for adults.
