Elizabeth Longford Prize for Historical Biography
The Elizabeth Longford Prize for Historical Biography was established in 2003 in affectionate memory of Elizabeth Longford, the acclaimed biographer, and is sponsored by Flora Fraser and Peter Soros.
This £5,000 award is presented annually for a historical biography published in the year preceding the prize.
No unsolicited submissions are accepted.
Winner of the Elizabeth Longford Prize for Historical Biography 2008
Rosemary Hill for God’s Architect – Pugin and the Building of Romantic Britain (Allen Lane) – £5,000
The Prize was presented by Lady Antonia Fraser at the Society’s annual awards party, at the Great Hall, Barts, West Smithfield.
Judges: Lady Antonia Fraser, Flora Fraser, Roy Foster, Andrew Roberts and A.N. Wilson
